NPS PTO Open Positions


Open Positions 2018-2019

Dear NPS Parents, Guardians and Teachers:

Please consider getting involved in your child’s school this year through the PTO. The NPS PTO is a non-profit organization and relies on volunteers & donations to support student and school events. Please view the second page for details. “The mission of the NPS PTO is to enhance and support the educational
experience at Narragansett Pier School (NPS), to develop a closer connection between school and home by encouraging parental involvement and open communication with parents and faculty, and to
improve the environment at NPS through volunteer and financial support through fundraising.” (This year’s focus is an exciting new recreational area -A project called PIER PLAYS)

You may also wish to attend any one of the scheduled 5 meetings listed below to hear school updates and find ways to get involved. Oct 1 st , Dec 3rd , Feb 4th , April 8th , June 11th.

*Volunteer Background Check - ALL volunteers must complete a background check prior to volunteering in the school.  The main office has an updated list of those volunteers who have been cleared to volunteer in the Narragansett School System.  Please go to the school website for the forms and info required. Please note that a BCI is required yearly.

2018-2019 NPS PTO

Below are the Open Positions 2018-2019 and 2019-2020.  The following PTO positions are available: 

1. Treasurer; We are hoping to find an individual willing to assist with the PTO finances. If you are computer savvy, familiar with Quickbooks please contact us. Will train.
2. Teacher Appreciation Week: One week closer the end of the school year we take the time to show the NPS Staff our appreciation. We hope to find two or more individuals to organize this special week including the highlight of the week, a luncheon for the staff. 
3. 8th Grade Promotion: At the end of the year we say goodbye to the 8th graders. We encourage the 7th grade parents/guardians to get involved with an event that their child will be honored at the following year. This is the after promotion gathering with lots of
goodies, decorations and refreshing drinks. We need two or more individuals to organize this well received event.
4. Bulletin Board: Seeking a creative type to maintain our PTO bulletin board located in the main office. Simply keep the board updated with PTO information, school information and themes for the changing seasons.
5. Fundraising Team: We are looking for individuals to assist in making the Pier Plays recreational area a reality this year. Please contact Cheryl Butler at for further information regarding the exciting Pier Plays Project
6. Book Fair- Our committee chair Lori Baxter is hoping to begin training anyone interested in running the book fairs for NPS in the near future. Please contact Lori at with any questions.
7. 2019 The PTO will need a new President. If interested, please consider getting involved this year while you learn what it’s all about. We welcome you.
8. 2019 The PTO will need a new Secretary. Taking notes during meetings and providing the minutes after all meetings. Updating NPS PTO Facebook page.
9. 2019 The PTO will need a new Box Tops Chair. If interested, please contact Julie Silvestri . This individual will help promote school involvement in collecting box tops. The will have access to the site as NPS’ coordinator and help the process adhere to deadlines and site information resulting in funds for the school community through box tops.
